The words that you hear,

From others sound nice…

My body says “slower”,

But my heart says “no more”.

My body shuts down,

But my head says “ignore”.

You’re all by yourself,

On your own in the world.

You feel so out of place,

After all, you’re just a girl…

She tore through the trees,

As light as a feather.

Feet flying across the earth,

She was faster than ever…

My places of shame,

Where I am to blame,

Try to hide in the depths of my stomach.

In the dark it seems safe,

If I don’t have to face,

That awful pit where others can’t come in…

They told me to stop,

My thoughts full of sin.

I must use all my might,

To captivate them…

My worries and pain,

I leave at your feet.

They are far too great,

For me to carry…

From weakness I came,

Held down in my shame,

I could barely lift my head.

Alone in the dust,

My spirit was crushed,

My hopes for freedom were dead…

Leaves fall to the ground,

They die and turn brown.

But when all has been lost,

Hope can be found…

The sun is warm on my back,

The breeze is gentle on my face.

The grass is cool under my feet,

This is my happy place…

Let today be today,

Let it be what it is.

Accept what it brings,

It’s unique challenges…

You give me good gifts,

Things I don’t expect.

When I need them most,

When I have nothing left...

I cannot thank you,

With words you deserve.

You are far more worthy,

Than any words I’ve heard…

You said “goodbye”,

To your home in the sky.

You left it all,

To come here and die...

Let me be your haven,

The place where you land,

When your heart is in need,
