tower in the sky
Please set me free,
Let me go, let me fly.
If I’m trapped for much longer,
My heart soon will die.
Besieged in a tower,
The place they call Love.
Surely it’s real name,
Is one we don’t speak of.
Stones stack up tall,
That’s how it was built.
It’s a tower of Shame,
A tower of Guilt.
They pile up high,
These stones made of Blame.
They make up this tower,
That bears the wrong name.
It should be called Pressure,
It should be named Duty.
This dark, lonely place,
Where others rule me.
Somehow I’m looked down on,
Up here in the sky.
Accusation surrounds me,
This tower’s a lie.
It acts like it’s Beauty,
It looks like it’s Refuge
But here on the inside,
It’s more like Abuse.
The height is deceiving,
Don’t let it fool you.
It’s a dungeon up here,
With a dismal, cruel view.
There’s no room in this tower,
No space for feeling.
This place is Careless,
Towards a heart that needs healing.
They brought me here,
They won’t let me escape.
Fear is the weapon,
That fuels this mistake.
They call it Guidance,
They call it Compliance.
This tower of Crippling.
This tower of Silence.
This tower of Despair,
This place in the air.
I have to be freed,
My heart depends on this need.
Please let me leave,
I beg for release.
Let me go, let me fly,
From this prison in the sky.
