today was my funeral

Today was my funeral,

It was saddened by the rain.

But the saddest part of all is,

I’m the only one who came.

No one brought me flowers,

Nobody even cried.

No one seemed to care,

Because no one knows I died.

No one reminisces,

Or shares sweet memories.

No one exchanges hugs,

Or says a eulogy.

No one gives condolences,

No one has a clue.

All is well before their eyes,

Today is nothing new.

It’s a silent kind of mourning,

A quiet sort of grief.

Living on the outside,

But rotting underneath.

Today was my funeral,

So I laid me down to rest.

Lying in that hollow tomb.

Where no one knows I’m dead.
